This is officially my second Mother's Day and what a great day it was. Chad let me sleep in this morning and when I finally got my lazy butt out of bed Avery brought me a great surprise. Two new charms for my Pandora bracelet.
I was so excited and loved both of them. We had a very lazy day here as it rained and was cold all day long. I did nothing productive and even took a nap after sleeping in. It was so nice. Avery was so sweet today. She would just walk around and say Momma all day long. I loved every minute of it. Tonight we went and ate at my favorite Mexican restaurant La Huerta. When I was pregnant this is what I craved everyday. We went there multiple times during the week and got to become there favorite customers. I went there last year on Mother's day too so I guess this is becoming a ritual. So as Mother's Day comes to an end I have to say I am so very grateful that I get to be one of the blessed ones to celebrate this holiday. So to Avery.......I thank God that he blessed me with you. I promise to be the best Mommy I can be. I love to kiss your Boo boos, put your hair in ponytails, paint your fingernails and toenails but most of all I love to hear you say Momma. Oh, and also love when you go pee pee in your potty! Thank you for making this day so special. I love you so much!!!!!
It's amazing how much she has grown since last year. Here's a picture of Mother's Day 2008.
Till next time..........Posted by Avery Alexander at 9:51 PM 0 comments
So I know that one of my New Year's resolutions was to update Avery's blog more and well we all know how resolutions go..... I have not stayed true to mine. But now I'm turning over a new leaf and am really going to try to update often. I feel this is one way to document everything in Avery's life and in the future be able to look back at it as a diary of Avery. So what's been going on since February we'll let's see..........

Avery got 2 new miniature ponies from Gigi so here we are testing them out. We named them Woodrow and Newt(we are huge Lonesome Dove lovers so if you have never seen the movie I highly suggest you do) They are so sweet and so little. Perfect for Avery but she will have to learn to hold on b/c they can be feisty when they want too. Now let's see what's next.......

As I sat and watched them make cookies it made me realize how fast the time is ticking away. I remember how excited my Mom was when i told her that I was pregnant and then here we are 18 months later and Avery is helping her make cookies. It was such a special time and one I will always treasure. I don't think I truly was thankful for everything my Mom has done for me until I became a mom myself. A mother's job is never done and I truly believe that now.
So next was Easter and the Easter Bunny came to see Avery.

This was our attempt of a family picture but Avery was not having any part in it. The weather was horrible on Easter so that's going to be my excuse as to why my hair looks horrendous in this picture. We had a great day at Mom's house and Avery got enough Easter baskets to last her a lifetime. In case you don't know she is the only grandchild and great grandchild on this side of the family so she is completely spoiled rotten.
So as Mother's Day approaches us I can't help but feel so truly lucky that God blessed me with this little girl. Being a Mom is a never ending job.....a job with no sick days, no pay raise and you can never get laid off from. But a job that is never ending love, always appreciated and one you thank god every day that you were chosen for the position. No one said that raising a child was easy and at some moments extremely hard but when she gives me kisses, hugs and in the morning when she wakes up and the first words out of her mouth are Momma those are the best moments in the entire world. My main goal in life was to be a successful wife and mother and I strive every day to fill both roles. I pray every night that I can be the best Mommy to Avery and a loving wife to Chad. These are the 2 best jobs in the entire world. Happy Mother's Day!!!!

For those of you who don't know me very well here is a little secret about me.....I LOVE Valentine's Day. In the past it was a yearly tradition for us to go to Hot Springs every year for this day but since Avery arrived we have yet to continue this tradition. So this year we had a pretty low key day. We woke up and exchanged presents and here is Avery digging into hers.

Chad and Avery got me a Pandora Bracelet for Christmas so I was so excited to open up a Pandora box with a pink heart charm. I absolutely love it.
The day didn't go as planned......at 11:00a.m. I headed to Danville to see my Granny who had been put in the hospital for the second time in a week. Long story short they finally sent her to Little Rock and she is doing much better and will hopefully get to come home very soon. After I got home we ordered in La Huerta's and stayed at the house for the night. I apologized to Chad for having such a crappy Valentine's day and having to keep Avery all day by himself and his response was "I would not have wanted to spend it any other way than with my daughter." Just when you think you couldn't love him any more and then he says things like that. We couldn't forget about Avery's daycare teachers so I made cookies for them the Thursday before Valentine's day.
I know the cookies are pretty pitiful but I never claimed to be a wonderful baker. My artistic skills are lacking. But I hope they enjoyed them. They deserve a gift every week for putting up with Avery for 5 days. I know I am worn out after 2 days on the weekends with her. Well that about sums it up for us. Until next time.....Posted by Avery Alexander at 5:36 PM 2 comments

We had to say good bye to Chad's grandmother this past week. We got the call last Sunday morning that Granny Millie had passed away. Unfortunately Avery only got to see twice since she lived in Texas. Chad and I left early Monday morning and made the trip to Texas to say our goodbyes. She will be deeply missed and I hate that Avery will grow up not remembering her. She had rheumatoid arthritis and we are thankful that she is no longer hurting. Here is a picture of Avery's first visit with her....

Thankfully Avery was able to stay with her GiGi while we were in Texas. I am so thankful that we have family so close to help in situations like these. Speaking of GiGi she has a birthday tomorrow. So Happy Birthday and we love you very much!!! I'll be nice and won't mention the age. Here is Avery and her GiGi.....
If you will please keep us in your prayers...we found out this past week also that Chad will officially be layed off from work on Wednesday for 60-90 days. And we are not even for sure they will open back up. 2009 has not started out very well for us and we pray that it will eventually get better. I know that God will never give us more than we can handle so we are trying to stay positive.
